About Me

When I thought I couldn’t go on, I forced myself to keep going.
My success is based on persistence, not luck.

Who I Am
My name is Aaron Couch. I am 24 years old, currently living in Nebraska.

What I’m Up To
In May 2012 I graduated from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, majoring in Veterinary Technology as a Veterinary Assistant with emphasis in large and exotic animals, and minoring in Agribusiness. I am in transition between school and landing a job in the career field of exotic animals.

I’m currently pursuing a career in exotic animal husbandry and am looking for a job, whether it is in research, conservation, rescue or something else. In the meantime, I’m writing freelance for MakeUseOf, a tech website focused on helping people make the most of technology in their lives, and interning at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo, where I’ve worked with several kinds of animals including primates, pachyderms, sea lions, reptiles, amphibians, avian, and several other kinds of exotic species.

In addition, I occasionally do some pet sitting, and computer repair, maintenance, social media management and website development through WordPress. I also run my own tech blog, The Couch Lounge, as well as a personal blog, The End Result.

This past summer I had the opportunity to experience what it would be like to work at an avian sanctuary for a week and also volunteered at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo for a while too.

What I Enjoy
Since I was young I’ve been passionate about animals and mostly exotic animals: reptiles, avian, amphibians, sea life and big cats.

Other things that I enjoy are people (and helping them), technology, paintballing, mountain biking, running, basketball, writing, photography and the outdoors: camping, kayaking, hiking, mountain climbing, etc.

Note: I am currently still adding content to my website. As of now, I have my resume, recommendationsfull bio and my philosophy available, but my Impossible List and FAQ pages, along with my photographywriting, presentation and website portfolio pages are still a work in progress.

Thanks for checking out my personal website and I look forward to connecting with you!
